STEM SUMMER PROGRAMMING
Draven thrived at the STEM engineering camp he and other Boys & Girls Club Members attended this summer hosted by Northcentral Technical College.
"There were a ton of opportunities for people with all sorts of interests," he said. "My favorite part was designing the 3D model on the computer. I had never done that before and I learned a lot."
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) summer programs provide the opportunity for Club Members to explore a range of hands-on topics that encourage the development of skills in problem-solving, creativity and critical analysis. Club Members learn how to use technology in healthy, regulated, and beneficial ways.
The Club's STEM programs and activities help young people learn about the environment, such as animal habitats, composting, noise pollution and protecting the planet. They learn about their place in society and how government works. STEM Center and open lab times allow Club Members to try an activity, game or challenge on their own or with a friend.
These activities help develop social skills, independent thinking, teamwork, and technological literacy while reinforcing key academic concepts. STEM careers are continuing to grow at a fast rate, and the Boys & Girls Club is invested in helping young people be confidently prepared for the future with skillsets they will be able to use throughout their lives.
