Summer Registration Is Here!

Our summer registration campaign has begun, and we're planning a host of unique programs, field trips, clubs, activities and other reasons for area kids and teens to have fun, continue learning and receive support and resources at the Club when schools ring their final bells for the year.

Summer matters. There are a number of ways that the Boys & Girls Club helps its Members fight against the "summer slide", so they may pick up where they left off when school starts again in the fall. Having access to enriching programs, STEM activities, arts and crafts, sports, character development, and other learning opportunities safeguards kids against falling behind academically and socially. Members may also have an easier time transitioning to larger schools, building on the relationship skills they practice at the Club.

One popular program that the Club offers during the summer is gardening in outdoor raised beds and in hydroponic towers. "I learned ways to keep a plant growing and how to tell if the soil is moldy or not," Club Member Peyton said. She also said she enjoys the many field trip opportunities. "I like the summer because I get to go swimming."

Another highlight in June, July and August is High Tea, a set of character and leadership building sessions for Club girls. Nea, who participated in High Tea 2024, liked getting to know other girls at the Club as they worked through workshops about worth, bravery, health, confidence, and success. "I feel like it made us feel less self-conscious and better about ourselves," she said.

During the summer months, the Club fills a gap of providing vital support, including healthy meals and snacks, internet access, guidance and support from a staff of caring adult mentors, and consistent access to foundational resources they need to thrive and succeed.
