Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area Excited to Welcome CareerLaunch Director

August 27, 2019 – WAUSAU, WI – The Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area is pleased to announce the hiring of Carol Pond, M.S. Ed, as our CareerLaunch Director – a vital role in our organization to lead our Members on the path to success before and after the diploma.

Carol is joining our team after spending 12 years in the Wausau School District as the Career Center Coordinator, providing post-secondary guidance to high school students, staff and community members. Prior to joining the school district, she held positions at university and technical college campuses in admissions, financial aid, student activities, student employment, and residence life.

“We are very excited Carol has chosen to add her unique talent and experience to our organization,” CEO Matt Jameson said. “Helping young people find their calling is central to our mission of enriching and transforming lives. Carol and the CareerLaunch team will help young people choose their best path, whether that’s through a university; technical college; workforce or the military. Additionally, this is a tremendous opportunity to enhance our partnerships with the business community and economic development organizations as we work together to address the needs of our area. Aligning our expertise in youth development with professionals in the economic development arena is a key to success for young people and our local economy.”

Carol enjoys helping students realize their potential and supporting them through their career and college exploration. Carol earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from UW-Stevens Point and a Master of Science in Education in College Student Development and Administration from UW-La Crosse.

“I am excited to join the Boys & Girls Club to continue to strengthen partnerships with educators and business professionals and provide opportunities for Club youth to explore the numerous college and career options they have after high school,” Carol said. She will join CareerLaunch Coordinator Ryan Handlin, who has served the Club since February 2017.

Dave Eckmann, President/CEO of the Greater Wausau Chamber of Commerce, said he’s enthusiastic about the opportunities this will bring to the business community in the Wausau Area. “The Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau Area has a key role to play in helping young people find their life and career path. Carol’s addition to the Club’s team elevates the CareerLaunch program, and demonstrates the Club’s commitment to economic, workforce and youth development.”

The Boys & Girls Club is looking forward to welcoming Carol to our team when she begins in September.
